7 Sunday Sticking Cupboard Sneak Peaks - Day 5

Today is the fifth sticking cupboard Sunday post where we continue to look at the different art and craft resources that I have in my craft cupboard, inspiring you to fill your craft cupboard with budget friendly resources to inspire children to get creative.

Day 5 of 7 Sunday Sticking Cupboard Sneak Peaks - Poster Paint, Paint Plate, Water Pot, Paint Brushes and Pastels.

With in this sticking cupboard drawer is all of our painting resources. We keep this all together for easy access and to limit mess in other places.

Painting Resources:
  • Poster paint - This can be found at any craft shop and it is perfect for allowing children to paint because it is cheap and easy to wipe off of surfaces and hands. There are so many ways to use poster paint you could paint a picture, make hand or foot prints, do a colour mixing activity, paint with sponges and stamps or add paint to shaving form for sensory play, the opportunities are endless!
  • Paint Plate - Save an old plate or pick one up cheaply from a charity shop to keep as a painting plate. Squeeze paint on to the plate as a pallet for colour mixing. This is more environmentally friendly than using paper plates. It is also useful to have a designated paint plate because it can be stored separately and does not get mixed up with everyday eating plates.
  • Water pot - Save a jam jar or an old mug as a water pot to clean paint brushes in. I decorated the jam jar to make it recognisable as the painting water pot.
  • Paint brushes - Paint brushes are essential for most painting activities and they can easily be picked up from craft shops. To make painting using brushes more interesting I would also recommend collecting some old wall painting brushes, spatulas, foam brushes and paint brushes from craft kits to give the children choice and the opportunity to make different marks using a range of brushes.
  • Pastels - Pastels can be found at craft shops or ordered online. They can be used in so many different ways such as to make fire work pictures on black paper or to look at blending colours using your fingers.

I hope you have enjoyed this sneak peak into my sticking cupboard and that you feel inspired to get painting and add to your own craft cupboard! If you missed last weeks sticking cupboard Sunday blog post you can catch up with that now - 7 Sunday Sticking Cupboard Sneak Peaks - Day 4
