Firework Paintings

A fun way to celebrate and learn about Guy Fawkes night is by getting creative and making some firework paintings. What is great about this art and craft activity is that it is quick and easy to achieve with limited resources, set up and time needed.

All you need is some coloured poster paint, a toilet roll tube and paper. I uses white printer paper as that is all I had, however black paper would work well reflecting the dark nights sky. To make your toilet roll tube into a firework stamp all you need to do is cut small slits in one end of the toilet roll tube and then fold them out. Leaving the other end as a handle. If you have several toilet roll tubes you could experiment by making smaller and larger slits to get different firework effects.

Squeeze some poster paint on to a plate or tray to allow for paint to be transferred on to the firework stamp. You could even use a paint brush to paint different colours on the the toilet roll tube stamp.

Simply press the firework stamp on to the paper however many times you would like and in different places to get a wonderful abstract firework painting. This is really easy for all ages to enjoy and have a go at, exploring their creativity and improving fine motor skills and hand eye coordination.

I love the finished firework painting and how all of the colours mix together creating a fantastic seasonal piece of art work from everyday resources.

I hope you will enjoy celebrating bonfire night by making your own firework paintings!
