To celebrate the warm weather I have put together a simple sunshine craft using coloured paper. This is a perfect activity to get creative during the summer because it is accessible for all ages. To modify this craft for younger children have the shapes needed already cut out, or alternatively challenge older children to independently cut their own shapes out.
All you need to complete this sunshine craft is:
- Yellow paper cut into a large semi circle
- Yellow and orange paper cut into triangles
- Strips of lots of different coloured paper of your choice to create a rainbow affect
- Glue stick
- Black felt tip pen to draw a smiley face
To include some further learning and development into this fun arts and craft activity talk to the children about the different shapes and colours that are put together to make up the sunshine. Older children could measure each of the rainbow strips to see if they are all the same length. The children can also count how many triangles they have to make up their sunshine craft and look at the alternating pattern of yellow then orange triangles. To expand even further you could look in a book or online at the order of the rainbow and see if your child can correctly order the coloured paper with in their craft.
I hope you enjoy this sunshine craft 🌞
I would love to see your sunshine crafts on Instagram
